Reskilling for the AI era: a practical learning plan
As AI changes job content, focus learning on the skills each role now needs.
Map changing roles
Identify which tasks in each role are being automated or AI-assisted, and what new skills that creates — reviewing AI output, data literacy, judgement and client communication.
Choose practical formats
Use guided practice, mentoring and short focused programmes. The Labour Codes also provide for a worker re-skilling fund, a sign of the policy emphasis on retraining.
Support managers
Organisational support drives AI impact more than individual effort. Train managers to set expectations and coach their teams.
Measure application, not attendance
Agree how employees will apply learning and review progress at 30 and 90 days.
